Welcome to Hillview Shouts! Children’s Choir 

 

Singing and music, two of my greatest passions next to children. What better way to combine these than the inauguration of Hillview’s very own Hillview Shouts! Children’s Choir? 

With everything gleaming brand new, I anticipate bumps in the road as we, Rosalind and I, together learn to serve you best. Our goal as well as our personal commitment to you is your children’s fun as we grow together in the enjoyment of music. 


Included in this packet are several sheets. Please fill out and return all forms. You may keep the informational sheets. Please let us know if any of the information for your child(ren) changes so we can keep current. 


In the beginning, we will be singing without music, just to get a feel as we start off with our theme song. If music is sent home with your child(ren), please ensure they bring it back to practice.

Hillview Shouts! Children’s Choir 

Will my child have fun? Absolutely, if they want to and participate. 

 

FAQS 

Will my child learn to read music? Eventually. We will start slowly, but our eventual goal (and it may take more than one semester) will be to have all children reading music and learning some music theory. 

 

What kind of music will the children sing? Just about everything. For this Fall semester, we will concentrate quite a bit on holiday music from a variety of sources. 


What can I do to encourage my child? Listen to music. All kinds. If there are local performances, we encourage you to take them. 


What if my child is disruptive? Because the choir is not a school but something you and your child has chosen to participate in, the only reason we would ask a child to leave the choir is because of disruptive or disrespectful behavior towards themselves and others. This includes no swearing, offensive language, bullying, harassment and abuse in any shape and form. 


What if I sign up and find my child can’t attend the performance(s)? If the student still wants to sing, great! However please let us know so we can plan who will be where and when. 


What can I do to help? There is plenty to do, musical and non-musical. For inquires on how you can help, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly. 


What if my child has to miss a practice? Not a problem, but we would like to know so we don’t worry if he/she doesn’t arrive. 


What if my child is sick? Please keep sick children home. Germs spread all too easily.

 

What if I know a child that wants to join but didn’t get to sign up? We encourage you to ask the parent/guardian to call us so we can make it work together. 


Are the indicated performance dates the only one? We are working on some other possibilities. With the children in school during the day, it will be difficult to add any performances such as a Senior Lunch or something like that. We would love to have the children perform in a few places, but that will have to be arranged as the semester progresses. We will send home information as soon as we have it.

Please be prompt. We are REALLY going to try to start on time as we have a lot to cover!!! 

All practices at Hillview Church in Millwoods Saturdays are from 10:30-11:30AM. 

Prompt pickup is appreciated! 


DRESS REHEARSAL: 

Saturday, April 7, 2012 during regular rehearsal time. Rehearsal time extended by 30 minutes. 

Saturday, May 12, 2012 during regular rehearsal time. Rehearsal time extended by 30 minutes. 

Saturday, June 16, 2012 during regular rehearsal time. Rehearsal time extended by 30 minutes.
