NAB Update - September
September can’t come soon enough!
I can recall when September was a month I dreaded as it always meant the end of summer vacation and the return to school. This year September can’t come soon enough. Why? Because it will mean our family will FINALLY be settled in at our new home in the Sacramento area.
Right now I am sitting in a hotel, trying to catch up on e-mail and complete a few projects. All our household possessions are in a truck somewhere between Chicago and Sacramento. We have about four days of driving ahead of us before we can begin the process of settling in. I figure it will take a few weeks to clear through all the boxes, get Nathan settled in school, and find our new rhythm—and by that time September will be upon us.
Rob and Dawn McCleland are in a similar timeline. They take possession of their new home in late August and will also be settling in.
But come September, our executive staff will all be in the same city again, able to sit together in the same room for staff meetings. I can’t recall the last time we had a “normal” staff meeting!
Whenever I go through significant change in my life, I choose a date sometime in the future when I estimate the major elements of change will be complete, and I can catch my breath. Friday afternoon, September 2, is that day for me. I envision sitting in my back yard with a cold drink, knowing that the worst is behind us. I can’t wait. September can’t come soon enough!
